Do you want to learn how to bake artisan leaven bread and cook healthy and tasty meals? Join us in Hrušov, recharge your energy, discover the charm of the scattered dwellings in Southern Slovakia. The wine cellars huddled to „tuff&sendstones“ cliffs, quaint meadows and permaculture.
We meet on Thursday evening, on 24th September on a charming farm of our friend Yanko in Hrušov (Veľký Krtíš county). He himself has been building up a picturesque farm where everybody feels like at home. Enchanting house, a little pond with stunning views on the quaint meadows, cosy little lodgings for the guests, a yard for llamas and even a swimming pool. Yanko will cook a delicious dinner for us and we will stay here for 3 nights. The price per night is not set.
Yanko decided that he is only going to accept voluntary contributions. He uses them to make his farm thrive, new projects he dreams of and purchase of animals that find a peaceful retreat here. We recommend a voluntary contribution of 15€ night per person as minimum.
COURSE OF LEAVENING AND LEAVEN BREAD BAKING
Friday, 25th September
You will start the day with delicious breakfast. In the morning, guided by an experienced bread maker Ľubka, you will learn how to bake a leaven bread from freshly ground grain. You will bake the bread without yeast in a wood burning stove. The basic ingredient rye is self-grown naturally without any pesticides. Ľubka grinds the rye on a grain mill and kneads the dough by hand.
You will taste a leaven pie and maybe even something else … Ľubka´s dream is to build a bakery in the Ecocentre and she will be happy to talk about it for sure. 🙂 After a scrumptious vegetarian lunch at Yanko´s you will pay a visit to Ľubka´s bees and learn more about the life of these amazing creatures.
Footour pdf self-guide will take you around and witness the life in Hrušov first. You can visit the neighbouring farmers, permaculturists, cheese makers, horse breaders, climb up the watchtower or to follow one of the indefinite Hrušov trails into the wild nature to absorb the peaceful atmosphere of the place. Everything depends on your choice.
For dinner, you set off to your “base” at Yanko´s farm.
THE COURSE OF HEALTHY COOKING BASED ON MACROBIOTIC DIET
Saturday, 26th September
Another delicious breakfast will be followed by a cooking class with Renátka. She is a specialist in macrobiotic diet. Thanks to him, you will learn the basics of cooking according to 5 elements. Together, you will prepare a nutritious vegetarian lunch using seasonal veggies. In the afternoon, Ľubka will guide you through permaculture garden next to the ecocentre and you will continue discovering and falling in love with Hrušov on your own afterwards. The dinner will be at Yanko´s.
Sunday, 27th September
As before, you will start the day by breakfast at Yanko´s sharing your thoughs, ideas, observations acquired while exploring Hrušov. Afterwards, each of you can keep on exploring the delightful countryside on your own. There are countless opportunities – local wine tasting in the rocky wine cellar, horse riding, go for a walk to the forest and more.. Everything is up to you.
